Start gently with goals, gear and technique, then follow week-by-week plans and checklists.
New walkers often wonder how far, how fast and how often. If you are the person they ask, you need a clear beginner path and a few tools to hand. This deck gives you the path and the tools.

This is a ready-to-use, editable PowerPoint deck of about 51 slides for people starting a walking habit. It covers SMART goals, an eight-week plan, gear, technique, the talk test, intervals, checklists and trackers. It suits new walkers, coaches, HR teams and community leaders. It is educational, not medical advice.
Chapter 1 explains the case for walking and the idea of a weekly activity guideline, and describes moderate intensity as brisk walking at which you can talk but not sing. Chapter 2 deals with getting started safely: a beginner's pace, choosing comfortable shoes and clothing, and mastering posture, arm swing and stride.
Chapter 3 builds the routine with SMART goals and three sample plans for Week 1, Weeks 2 to 4 and Weeks 5 to 8, plus a weekly blueprint, a tracking slide and a case vignette. Chapter 4 helps with everyday opportunities, the Walk With Ease programme and obstacle planning. Chapter 5 adds the talk test, heart-rate basics, terrain variety and intervals.
Chapter 6 places walking among strength, flexibility and other low-impact activities, with a vignette about mobility. Chapter 7 is the toolkit: a weekly walking tracker, a pre-walk checklist and a post-walk checklist. Chapter 8 closes with consistency, habit stacking and a community walking vignette about neighbours.
