Why responsible AI has become a manager’s job, not only legal’s

“My team is already using AI tools I never approved, and I don’t know what data went in.”

People paste customer lists, CVs and complaint logs into whatever chatbot is open. Nobody meant harm, but nobody checked the purpose, the vendor terms or where the data now sits. Someone has to set the rules for this team, and that someone is usually the manager.

“The vendor says ‘bias-free’ and ‘EU AI Act compliant’, and I can’t tell if it’s true.”

AI for hiring, reviews and customer decisions is sold with confident claims and little evidence. Without a few sharp questions and a way to read selection rates, you either block everything or approve something that later lands as a fairness complaint.

“If someone leaks customer data into a chatbot, I don’t know who to call or how fast.”

Breach clocks can start within hours, and customer contracts can be shorter still. Legal says “it depends”, and you need to know what to do in the first hour: contain, capture what happened, classify it and get the right people moving.

Who it is for

Who this responsible AI training is for

People managers and team leads

Your team in HR, sales, finance, operations, marketing or customer service uses or buys AI. You will leave knowing what you can approve today, what needs review and when to call legal or privacy.

Product and project owners

You put AI into a process or a product. You will learn to run intake, classify the use, write an impact and privacy assessment, and design oversight that is real rather than a rubber stamp.

New members of an AI governance group

You have joined the committee that reviews AI requests. You will learn the register fields, the vendor questions and the risk tiers that make a monthly review quick and defensible.

HR, compliance, risk and IT leaders buying for managers

You need managers who lead AI use well, and dated records of the measures you took. Each learner’s modules, scores and capstone sit on their learning record.

This course is not for you if you want a legal qualification or exam preparation for a professional certification such as the IAPP AIGP or a data protection officer course: it is a practical course for managers, taught at principle level.

Why now: the evidence

AI use is ahead of the rules, and the rules are arriving

Four dated facts, each linked to its source.

Desire

What you can do at the end: say yes to AI with confidence, and know when to say stop

Imagine walking into your next AI governance review with the register entry, the impact and privacy assessment and the controls plan for your team’s real AI use already written. That is the capstone. Along the way you triage, classify, inspect, audit and respond in labs and simulations, so your first real decision is not your first attempt.

Triage any AI use for harm

Name who could be harmed, rate severity and likelihood, and choose a proportionate first action using the NIST AI RMF functions.

Know which rules apply, and when

Place a use in its EU AI Act tier, separate what applies today from what applies later, and know the moment to escalate to legal or privacy.

Keep personal data out unless it belongs

Run six checks on purpose, basis, notice, retention, transfers and vendor terms before data goes into an AI tool, and never let special-category data be pasted casually.

Measure fairness, honestly

Calculate selection rates and impact ratios, and know what the four-fifths rule of thumb from US EEOC guidance does and does not tell you.

Design oversight that works

Give reviewers authority, time, information and a record, and give affected people an explanation and a way to contest.

Run governance for your team

Intake, internal risk tiers, the AI register, vendor due diligence with the CHECK questions and one page of staff quick rules.

Handle the first hour of an incident

Contain, capture, classify, start the clocks that may apply and communicate honestly, then turn the lesson into a control.

Curriculum

Responsible AI course curriculum: 9 stages from baseline to credential

The pathway runs in order: a baseline assessment, six modules of about 65 minutes with a hands-on lab or simulation each and short boosters two and seven days later, the capstone on one real AI use case, and a final assessment on a parallel form. Notice how the same few questions (who is affected, what data, which rule, who decides) carry you from the first module to the last.

Responsible AI and Data Privacy: questions, answered

Straight answers on time, price, tools and the credential. If yours is not here, ask us and you will have a reply the same working day.

Ask a question

Is this responsible AI course legal advice?

No. The course teaches the rules at principle level, with the article or section number and the date for each, so that you know what you can decide yourself and when and what to ask your legal or privacy team. Every legal screen says so, and the capstone rewards escalating legal questions rather than inventing legal conclusions.

Who is the Responsible AI and Data Privacy course for?

It is for people managers and team leads whose teams use or buy AI, in HR, sales, finance, operations, marketing or customer service, and for product and project owners and new members of an AI governance group. HR, compliance, risk and IT leaders buy it for their managers.

Do I need technical or legal knowledge?

No. There is no code and no legal background is assumed. The course works with any AI tool your company approves, and the labs and simulations run inside the course, so you do not need a paid AI tool to complete them.

How long does the responsible AI course take?

The course takes about 11 hours, and most learners finish in about 4 weeks alongside work. There are six modules of about 65 minutes each, a 25-minute baseline, a capstone of about three hours of work and a 30-minute final assessment.

How much does the course cost?

The course costs $119 for an individual, and $99 per seat for companies. The price includes all six modules, the simulations and labs, the capstone review, both assessments, the credential and four complimentary Pro Kits.

Is AI literacy training mandatory under the EU AI Act, and will this course make us compliant?

Under Article 4 of the EU AI Act, providers and deployers of AI systems must take measures to support their staff’s AI literacy; it does not name a course or require a certificate, and it can reach organisations outside the EU when their AI is used in the EU or affects people there. No course can certify compliance. This course supports those measures: each learner’s dated record can be part of your evidence. Not legal advice.

Did the EU delay the AI Act?

Partly. The AI Omnibus, Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force since 27 July 2026, moved the high-risk rules to 2 December 2027 for Annex III systems and 2 August 2028 for AI in products. The prohibitions and the AI literacy duty have applied since 2 February 2025, general-purpose AI rules since 2 August 2025, and transparency duties from 2 August 2026. The course lists every date in Module 2.

Does it cover India’s DPDP Act and the DPDP Rules 2025?

Yes, at principle level: notice, consent, security safeguards, breach intimation, rights requests and the phased dates, with most Data Fiduciary duties applying from 13 May 2027. It also covers CERT-In’s six-hour incident reporting direction, alongside the GDPR, the UK’s Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and US state rules.

What certificate do I get?

You receive the Bodhih Responsible AI and Data Privacy for Managers credential when your capstone is accepted and you pass the final assessment (70%). It is issued as an Open Badge 2.0 with a verify page and a PDF, and shows your baseline and final scores. It is an industry credential from Bodhih Training Solutions, not a university, government or professional body qualification.

How is it different from the IAPP AIGP, and does it prepare me for an outside certification?

The IAPP AIGP is a professional certification with an exam, for AI governance specialists. This course is a shorter, practical course for managers who run teams that use AI, and it ends in a capstone on your own work. It does not prepare you for the AIGP, ISO/IEC 42001 or any other outside exam, though the topics overlap.

Can my company enrol a team?

Yes. Company seats cost $99 per seat, and many companies pair this course for managers with AI at Work Essentials for all staff. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601 for seats, reporting or an in-house rollout.
