Quick answer

How do I coordinate care for an elderly parent?

Start with a needs conversation with your parent, scoring daily life for support and risk. Hold a family meeting to agree roles and a fair split of costs. Choose the lowest level of care that meets the needs, vet carers properly, build a weekly rota with backups, and plan your own breaks. The Elder Care Coordinator kit from Bodhih Training gives you every form and template for these steps.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

Everything lives in your head

Appointments, carers' phone numbers, which pharmacy, who paid what. When it is all in one person's memory, one bad week means things get missed.

Your parent feels managed, not helped

Well-meant inspections lead to defensiveness and refusals. Without a respectful way in, the important conversations never quite happen.

Siblings disagree, mostly by message

Different distances, incomes and histories turn into resentment when nobody has written down who does what. The group chat becomes the battleground.

The gaps show up at the worst moment

A carer is sick, a bath morning has no one around, a hospital asks for a medicines list nobody has. Gaps you cannot see are the ones that hurt.

You are running on empty

Coordinators look after everyone except themselves. Breaks get pushed to after the next crisis, and there is always another crisis.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine a Sunday evening a few weeks from now. You open the Care Coordination Hub, glance at the Dashboard and see the week ahead at a glance: every rota slot covered or backed up, two appointments coming up with their questions already written, and the family pot balanced for the month.

When you sit down with your parent for the needs conversation, you start with what matters to them, and they notice. As you score the thirteen areas together, the plan becomes theirs as much as yours. And when they say no to something, you write it down and respect it, which is often exactly what makes the next yes possible.

Then the family meeting. Instead of opinions, everyone has the same facts. Your brother abroad takes the money admin, your sister takes the weekly call, and the forty hours you give each month are finally visible on the Family Shares sheet. Whether you start with the emergency plan tonight or the Hub tomorrow morning, each piece makes the next one easier.

And on the Sunday when your own Wellbeing Log turns Amber, you already know what to do: open the respite page, send the script, and let the backup you named weeks ago step in.

A taste of Chapter 3

Families rarely split care equally, and they do not need to. The sibling nearby gives hours. The sibling abroad may give more money, or take on the admin that can be done from anywhere: bills, insurance, research, the weekly call. What matters is that the split is agreed in the open, written down and reviewed on a date. The Family Shares sheet in the Hub shows money and time side by side: each person's agreed share of the family pot, what they paid, and their care hours valued at a rate you set on Settings. It is a conversation starter, not a bill. It makes visible the forty hours a month the nearby sibling quietly gives. Bring it to every family meeting, and update it before anyone has to ask.

Questions buyers ask

The Elder Care Coordinator: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

How do I start coordinating care for an elderly parent?

Begin with three things: an emergency plan by the phone, one calm conversation with your parent about how daily life is going, and a single place to keep information. The kit's Start Here map and 30-day calendar walk you through the first month step by step.

Is this kit medical, legal or financial advice?

No. It is educational and organisational. It helps you record what clinicians prescribe and prepare questions, but never to start, stop or change any medicine. For legal authority, benefits and money decisions, check the official source and speak to a qualified professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Does it work outside the UK or US?

Yes. The method and tools work in any country and any currency. Country-specific notes cover the UK, USA, India, Canada, Australia, Singapore and the UAE, dated October 2026, with questions to ask anywhere else.

How do siblings split the cost of caring for a parent fairly?

Agree the split in the open, write it down and review it on a date. Fair is not always equal: one sibling may give hours, another money or admin. The Family Shares sheet shows money and time side by side so the conversation is based on facts.

Can I use it if I live in another country from my parent?

Yes. Chapter 9 and the Caring From Abroad Playbook cover local eyes, shared documents, the weekly call, visit planning, money across borders and what to do when an emergency happens far away.

What should I ask a home care agency?

Ask how carers are checked and trained, what they may do with medicines, who covers when a carer is off, how visits are recorded, how concerns are handled, and the rates and notice period. The Carer Interview and Checks form and the script library include these questions.

How do I know if I am burning out as a carer?

Watch for poor sleep, irritability, dread, dropping your own plans and feeling resentful. The Wellbeing Log turns a two-minute Sunday rating into a green, amber or red signal with a matching action. If you feel unable to cope, speak to a doctor.

How can I measure my starting point?

To measure your starting point, take the AssessAll Family & Elder Caregiving Judgment assessment now and again in three months. Conflict Navigation & Resolution and Budget & Resource Allocation Reasoning are useful companions for the sibling and money parts of the job.

How do I turn this into routines that stick?

Turn it into a development plan with if-then routines, such as 'If it is Sunday at 7pm, then I update the rota and my Wellbeing Log.' Jobulary's guide to if-then plans shows how to write them.

What software do I need?

Any spreadsheet app (Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice), a word processor, a PDF reader that fills forms, and any calendar. The task board CSV imports into Trello, Asana, Notion, Planner or Jira.

How much does The Elder Care Coordinator cost?

₹1,299 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $34 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
