Quick answer

How do I plan a house move?

Start eight weeks before moving day. Each week, do the top task in four streams: your stuff (declutter, movers, packing), people (children, pets, school), paper (addresses, utilities, money) and place (leaving and arriving). The Moving House System kit from Bodhih Training gives you the planner, forms, labels and letters for each step.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

Everything happens in the last ten days

Most moves start calm and end in panic, because nobody knows what needs doing this week. Fifty small tasks, each with a right moment, cannot be held in your head.

Quotes you cannot compare

One mover quotes high, one low, one by phone. Without the same questions and a like-for-like total, the cheapest quote can become the most expensive day.

Boxes labelled KITCHEN

Eleven boxes opened to find the kettle on night one. A label that only says the room cannot tell you what is inside, what to open first or whether it arrived.

The deposit and the long tail

Deposits lost for want of a dated photo. Bank letters arriving at the old address months later. Small things with real costs.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine week 8. You open the Moving Planner, type your moving day into one cell and watch 53 tasks take their dates. You print the start-here map, stick it on the fridge and book a fifteen-minute kick-off with everyone you live with.

By week 6 you have three quotes for the same home, compared on one sheet, and the one far below the others has a polite question waiting for it. As you log each box, K-01, K-02, B2-01, you notice the spare room is already lighter, because you decided before you packed.

Moving day is busy but quiet. One person holds the run sheet. Boxes go out ticked by number and come in by colour, past door signs your children taped up. Before a single box comes off the van, you photograph every room and every meter.

And on the first night, whether you open the kitchen box first or the bedding box first, the kettle and the sheets are exactly where the label says. When you are ready, open the First Week sheet and pick the next small thing.

A taste of Chapter 1

Mei Ling in Singapore had moved four times in ten years, and every move had the same shape: weeks of calm, then ten days of panic in which everything happened at once. "I always knew what needed doing," she said to her sister. "I just never knew what needed doing this week." That is the real problem with a move. Very few tasks are hard. Booking a van is not hard. Telling the bank your new address is not hard. The difficulty is that there are around fifty of these tasks, they belong to different parts of your life, and each one has a right moment. Too early and it is wasted; too late and it costs you money, a deposit or a night's sleep.

Questions buyers ask

The Moving House System: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

How far in advance should I start planning a house move?

Eight weeks is a good default: long enough to declutter, get honest quotes and give notice, short enough to keep momentum. International moves need twelve weeks or more. If you have less time, the Countdown sheet still works: mark the earlier tasks as done or not needed and start from the week you are in.

Does the kit work for my country and currency?

Yes. The workbook takes any currency code and uses plain numbers, and you can note sizes in metric or imperial. Rules that differ by country, such as deposits, notice and customs, are taught as questions to ask, with dated notes for the UK, US, Canada, Australia, India, UAE, Singapore, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

I am buying, not renting. Is it still useful?

Yes. The countdown, packing system, movers, change of address, utilities, children and pets, moving day and first week apply to everyone. Chapter 8 covers the owner's handover alongside the renter's move-out, and your conveyancer, solicitor or lawyer handles the legal side.

How do I compare moving quotes properly?

Make sure every mover sees the same home and answers the same questions, then compare totals that include packing, extras and cover, not headline prices. The Mover Quotes sheet totals each quote, compares it with the average and flags any far above or below.

What should go in an essentials or open-first box?

For the kitchen: kettle, mugs, tea or coffee, simple food, washing-up liquid, a cloth and bin bags. Add one per bedroom with bedding, one for the bathroom and one with tools. Documents, medicines and valuables travel with you, never in the van.

Who do I need to tell when I move house?

More organisations than most people expect: government, banks, employer, health, schools, insurers, utilities, subscriptions and family. Most do not share addresses with each other. The Change of Address sheet starts you with 33 rows across ten categories, worked in three waves.

Can I measure my starting point before I begin?

Yes. If you like to check your planning habits, AssessAll offers the Plan Strength Assessment with an Eight-Week Re-Measure, Procurement & Vendor Management Judgment (useful before you hire movers) and Time, Priorities & Focus. Take one now and again after the move.

How do I make sure I actually do the tasks?

Turn each week's top tasks into if-then plans: when it is Sunday at 7.30pm, we open the Dashboard. Jobulary's guide to implementation intentions, If-then plans that make habits stick, shows how to turn the countdown into a development plan you keep.

Is this legal or financial advice?

No. The kit is educational and practical. Tenancy, deposit, property, customs and moving-company rules differ by country and region, so check your contract and the official source, and talk to a qualified lawyer, conveyancer or solicitor for anything disputed. Safety work on gas, electrics or structure is for qualified professionals.

Can I get a refund?

Digital kits are non-refundable once downloaded, except for corrupted files we cannot fix within 3 working days, duplicate charges or failed delivery. Read the full contents list above so you know exactly what you are getting.

How much does The Moving House System cost?

₹799 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $24 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
