Downsizing and Later-Life Move Kit · Bodhih Pro Kits · 100 by Bodhih Training, trainers to 2,000+ companies since 2008.
How do you downsize your home in later life?
Decide before you sort: compare staying, adapting and moving on health, money, people, place and feelings. Then agree roles with family, budget the move, choose a future-proof home, sort room by room into six destinations, share heirlooms fairly and run a 12-week plan. The Downsizing and Later-Life Move Kit from Bodhih Training gives you a tool for every step.

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.
The conversation keeps going wrong
Every time someone mentions the house, it ends in silence or an argument. The kit gives you words that open the subject gently and keep the person moving in charge.
A lifetime of belongings feels impossible
The loft alone could take a month. The room-by-room method breaks it into calm ninety-minute sessions with six clear destinations and a workbook that shows progress.
Heirlooms could split the family
Two people want the same watch and nobody wants to be the one to ask. A simple process of reserved items, private wish lists, rounds and letters keeps it fair and kind.
The money is fuzzier than it looks
Fees, adaptations, furniture that does not fit and service charges add up. Two budgets, a contingency and a list of questions for your adviser bring it into focus.
Smaller is not the same as suitable
A lovely flat with one lift and two steps at the door can become a trap. The four-zone checklist helps you choose a home that still works on a bad day.
Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.
Imagine a Sunday a few months from now. You open the Dashboard with your mother on the call and see the guest room, kitchen and bathroom marked as sorted, the heirloom list agreed, and moving day eight weeks away. Nobody is arguing. Everybody knows their job.
That calm starts with something small. As you fill in the first page of the Stay-or-Move Reflection, you notice what really matters: perhaps the garden, perhaps being close to grandchildren, perhaps never climbing those stairs again. When you score the options in the workbook, the front runner is built from the mover's own priorities, which makes it easier for the whole family to understand.
Then the work becomes ordinary. You print a Room Sorting Sheet, set out six labelled boxes and spend ninety minutes on one cupboard. You send the wish-list message. You measure the sofa before it gets stuck in the doorway. Each step has a file, and each file has a sample filled in so you can see what good looks like.
Whether you start with the reflection tonight or the family scripts tomorrow, you are working from one plan, at a pace the person moving can live with.

A taste of Chapter 3
Most people plan for the price gap between the two homes. You need two budgets: 1. The one-off cost of the move. Selling costs, buying or renting costs, legal and registration fees, taxes on property transfer where they apply, removals, packing materials, cleaning, repairs to the old home, adaptations and furnishing in the new one, storage, and the hidden category: takeaway meals, taxis and a hotel night when everything goes wrong. 2. The ongoing cost of living in the new home. Service or maintenance charges, ground rent where it exists, property taxes, insurance, utilities, care or support fees in managed housing, transport, and any care at home you expect to need. Compare the ongoing cost of the new home with the ongoing cost of the current one, including the repairs you have been postponing. A larger old home often costs more than people admit once you add the roof, the boiler and the gardener.

Downsizing and Later-Life Move Kit: FAQs
Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my linkIs this kit for the person moving or for the family helping?
Both. The e-book speaks to the person who may move and to the adult child, partner or friend who is helping. The scripts include words for each, and every tool assumes the person whose home it is makes the decisions.
How do I talk to my parents about downsizing without upsetting them?
Ask before you advise, pick a calm moment and make it clear they decide. Start with how the home is working for them now rather than with a move. The kit includes opening scripts, a family meeting agenda and responses for the three kinds of no.
Should I stay in my home or move?
It depends on your health, money, support network, daily life and feelings, and on whether your home can be adapted. The Options Scorecard compares stay as you are, stay and adapt, downsize nearby, move near family, retirement living and more on those five lenses, weighted to your priorities.
What is the best way to sort a lifetime of belongings?
Start with the easiest room, work in ninety-minute sessions and send every item to one of six destinations: keep, gift, sell, donate, recycle or store, with an Undecided box that is cleared each time. The Room Inventory and Room Progress sheets show what is done.
How do we divide family heirlooms fairly?
The mover reserves what they are keeping, family send private wish lists, clashes are settled by the mover or by rounds with a rotating order, and every decision is written down. Fair does not always mean equal; the Gift Balance sheet shows the balance the mover intends.
Does it work in my country and currency?
Yes. The workbook works in any currency, the furniture checker shows centimetres and inches, and the method does not depend on local rules. Appendix B has dated notes for the UK, US, Canada, Australia, India, UAE, Singapore, South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria to help you find the right official source.
Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
No. It is educational content and practical planning tools. Nothing in the kit is a will or legal document. Rules on property sales, tax, benefits, gifts and powers of attorney differ by country, so check the official source and speak to a qualified lawyer, financial adviser or tax professional before you sign or sell.
How can I measure my starting point?
If you would like to measure your starting point, the AssessAll assessments Decision-Making Under Uncertainty, Family and Elder Caregiving Judgment, and Negotiation and Value Creation pair well with the kit, especially before the family meeting and before talking to agents.
How do I turn the plan into habits after the move?
Use the Settling-In Plan to set four goals for the first month and write them as if-then plans. If you want to turn it into a development plan of your own, Jobulary has a clear explainer on if-then planning that makes new routines easier to keep.
What if my parent has dementia or the move is urgent?
The kit is built for planned moves, but Appendix A covers what to do when time is short or dementia is involved, and where to turn for care and legal help. For day-to-day care, Bodhih also offers the Dementia Care Day-by-Day Kit and The Elder Care Coordinator.
How much does Downsizing and Later-Life Move Kit cost?
₹999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How do I get the files after paying?
Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.
What software do I need?
Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.
Can I get a refund?
Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.
Can my company buy this for a team?
Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
