How do I build a 13-week cash flow forecast?
Start from this morning's cleared bank balance, list every expected receipt and payment in the week the cash actually moves, and calculate a closing balance for each of the next thirteen weeks against a minimum you will act at. Each Monday, type the actuals, explain the gaps and roll forward a week. The Cash Flow Forecast and Collections Kit from Bodhih Training builds this in Excel.

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.
Profitable on paper, short at the bank
The management accounts show a healthy profit, the bank app shows less than next month's payroll. Nobody can say which week will be the tight one until it arrives.
Late payment is normal
The Atradius Payment Practices Barometer for Western Europe, published in May 2026, found nearly four in five companies reporting late payments from business customers. Planning as if customers pay on the due date builds a forecast that is always early.
Chasing depends on mood
Reminders go out when someone remembers, calls happen when someone is brave, and the largest customer is never chased because everyone is nervous of them. Nothing is logged, so promises are forgotten.
Invoices that cannot be paid
No purchase order number, a due date written as 'net 30', a portal upload that failed silently. The customer's accounts payable team parks the invoice and you find out a month later.
Credit decided by the salesperson
Terms and limits are agreed in the sales conversation, one customer quietly becomes a third of revenue, and nobody asked whether they were a good borrower.
The owner asks questions you cannot answer quickly
How long could we last? What would the bank say? Are collections getting better? The numbers live in the accounting software, three inboxes and someone's memory.
Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.
Picture next Monday at 9.30. You open the workbook, type last week's actual receipts and payments, choose a reason from the list and write one line of lesson. The Cash Summary rolls forward a week, and the Dashboard shows the lowest week, the downside low point and how many weeks sit below your floor. The meeting takes thirty minutes because everything is already on the sheet.
Now it is Thursday morning. As you sort the Debtor Ledger by days overdue, each invoice already names its next step and the date it is due. You send the numbered scripts, make four calls with the call record in front of you, and log three promises with dates and amounts. On Monday the Dashboard tells you which promises to chase.
Imagine the conversation with your largest customer. The credit application is on file, the limit came from the calculator, and the invoice they queried had the PO number on it. The undisputed part is already paid, and the dispute has an owner and a target date.
And then the end of the month. Whether you start with the e-book tonight or the workbook tomorrow morning, the monthly cash report is the same two pages every time: a headline, the numbers, the risks with a lever ready for each, and the decisions you need from the owner.

Open Cash Metrics. Days sales outstanding (DSO) is receivables divided by revenue for the period, times the days in it. Brightline's 52 lakh of receivables against 150 lakh of revenue in 90 days gives a DSO of 31 days on 30-day terms. That sounds fine until the next line: best possible DSO, if nothing were overdue, is 14 days. The seventeen-day gap is cash that collections can recover. Cutting DSO by five days releases revenue per day times five: 8.3 lakh for Brightline, a third of a payroll, for no new sales. Days payables outstanding (DPO) is payables divided by purchases, times the days; days inventory outstanding (DIO) is stock or work in progress divided by purchases, times the days. The cash conversion cycle is DSO plus DIO minus DPO. Brightline's is about 13 days, good for an agency; a distributor holding ninety days of stock on thirty-day terms might run at sixty or more. Track it monthly: one number for customers, stock and suppliers, each part movable separately.

The Cash Flow Forecast and Collections System: FAQs
Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my linkWhat is a 13-week cash flow forecast?
It is a week-by-week forecast of the money that will actually arrive and leave your bank for the next thirteen weeks, starting from today's cleared balance. Each week shows receipts, payments and a closing balance, compared with a minimum you will act at. It is rolled forward every week, so the horizon always stays a quarter ahead.
How do I get customers to pay on time?
Decide credit before the work starts, send invoices that pass the customer's checks (PO number, due date as a date, the right address or portal), remind before the due date, and follow a dated sequence of emails, calls and letters that you log every time. The kit gives you the policy, the invoice checklist, the sequence and the words.
What is a good DSO for a small business?
It depends on your terms and sector, so compare DSO with your own payment terms and with your best possible DSO, the figure if nothing were overdue. The gap between the two is the cash that collections can recover. The Cash Metrics sheet calculates both and the cash released by cutting DSO by five days.
Can I charge interest on late payments?
In some countries the law gives businesses a right to statutory interest on late commercial payments; elsewhere it depends on the contract and local law. The kit keeps the specifics in a cheat sheet dated October 2026 and the calculator estimates the amount, but check your contract, your accountant and local law before you claim it.
How should AI be used in cash flow and collections?
AI assistants are useful for spotting variance patterns, drafting reminders and dispute replies, preparing for hard calls and drafting the monthly report narrative. A person decides escalation, interest, suspension, credit limits, payment plans and write-offs, and checks every number and legal claim. The prompt pack has 28 prompts with what to paste in and what to check.
Is this financial, tax or legal advice?
No. The kit is educational: it teaches a method and gives you tools to run it. Tax dates, interest rules, e-invoicing requirements and recovery routes differ by country and change often, so check your accountant, auditor and local law before acting.
How do I measure my starting point?
AssessAll offers assessments that match this kit: Four Quarters: Financial Judgement for Managers Who Are Not in Finance; Financial and Collections Account Readiness; and Business Arithmetic: Percentages, Profit and Loss, Interest. Take one before you start and again after a quarter of running the method. Links are on the Start Here map; the assessments are separate products and not included.
How do I turn this into a development plan for my team?
Pick the two or three skills that matter most in your team, such as reading the forecast, making collection calls or deciding credit, and build practice around them with the scripts and worked example. Jobulary explains how its development plans work, and the link is on the Start Here map.
Which software do I need?
The workbooks open in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and use no macros. The forms fill in Acrobat Reader and most PDF apps, the templates open in Word or Google Docs, the calendar imports into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, and the CSV imports into Trello, Asana, Notion, Planner or Jira.
What is the refund policy?
Digital kits are non-refundable once downloaded. The exceptions are corrupted files that are not fixed within 3 working days, duplicate charges, or failed delivery.
How much does The Cash Flow Forecast and Collections System cost?
₹1,299 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $34 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How do I get the files after paying?
Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.
What software do I need?
Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.
Can I get a refund?
Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.
Can my company buy this for a team?
Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
