AI upskilling programme for companies: a measured, company-wide rollout from baseline to 90 days
By Bodhih Training Solutions, Bengaluru · UpdatedThe short answer
A company-wide AI upskilling programme works well in five steps: measure a baseline, assign each role its own track, agree rules for AI use, certify people on their own work, then re-measure at 90 days and report movement by team. Bodhih supplies the diagnostic, function-specific courses, leadership toolkits and a competency-movement report, so you can show the board change rather than completions.
What is the difference between AI training and an AI upskilling programme?
Buying AI training means choosing courses for a team. An upskilling programme is a plan for the whole organisation: who needs which skill, in what order, under which rules, and how you will know it worked. It needs a baseline, governance and a reporting line to leadership, not only a course catalogue.
If you only need seats for one or two teams, see corporate AI training. This page is for HR, L&D and transformation leads planning a rollout across functions.
What are the steps in a company-wide AI rollout?
A typical sequence, with the output of each step:
| Step | When | What happens | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Baseline | Before day 1 | Each learner takes a diagnostic mapped to the Competency Spine | Starting scores by person and team |
| 2. Leadership and policy | Weeks 1–2 | Leaders agree what may go into AI tools and who approves outputs | A written AI use policy |
| 3. Role-based tracks | Days 1–28 | Sales, marketing, HR, finance and managers each take their own course | Eight work products per learner |
| 4. Technical depth | Days 1–70 | Analysts and engineers take AI/ML Levels 1–3 | Exams under exam conditions, projects |
| 5. Certification | End of each course | Proctored exam for Applied AI courses | Verifiable credentials |
| 6. Re-measure | Day 90 | The diagnostic is re-run | Movement per competency |
| 7. Report | After day 90 | Results by team and competency go to leadership | Competency-movement report |
How are role-based tracks assigned?
Each function gets the course written for its work: AI for Sales, AI for Marketing, AI for HR, AI for Finance and AI for Managers for new people leaders. Technical staff follow the AI/ML ladder from Foundations to LLM Engineering.
If you run the Bodhih LMS for your company, groups and attribute rules can assign the right pathway from fields such as department or role, and automations send reminders and escalate to a manager when someone falls behind. With SCIM directory sync, joiners are added and leavers deactivated automatically.
What governance should an AI upskilling programme include?
People will use AI tools whether or not training exists. Governance tells them where the line is before they cross it.
- A short AI use policy: what data may never go into public tools, what needs human approval
- A named owner for each AI-assisted workflow, with a risk log
- Leadership briefings using toolkits such as AI Governance & Oversight for the C-Suite and AI & Data Ethics in the Enterprise
- Responsible-use checks built into each function course rather than a separate lecture
- A review point at 90 days to update the policy from what teams actually did
How do you report the results to leadership?
Every learner is measured on the same 0–100 Competency Spine before and after, in five bands from aware to expert. Movement of fewer than 8 points is reported as “held steady”, so small changes are not dressed up as progress. Reports show movement by competency and by team, alongside completions and exam results.

Questions people ask next
How long does a company-wide AI upskilling programme take?
The function courses take about 28 days each and run in parallel. Technical tracks take 28 to 70 days depending on level. The re-measure happens at 90 days, so a first full cycle, from baseline to a report for leadership, takes roughly four months.
Where should we start: leaders or employees?
Start leaders a little ahead. When leaders have agreed an AI use policy and understand oversight, employees receive consistent answers to questions about what is allowed. Many companies brief leaders in weeks one and two while function tracks begin in parallel.
How do we measure AI skills before training?
Each Applied AI course starts with a diagnostic that scores the learner on the competencies the course teaches, using the Competency Spine’s 0–100 scale. The same diagnostic is re-run at 90 days. The framework is published openly at /competency-framework under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
Can the programme run on our own LMS?
Courses are built from SCORM modules. Companies can take seats on bodhih.org or license the Bodhih LMS, which adds your branding, single sign-on, SCIM sync, automations and reports. Talk to us about your current LMS and we will explain the options.
What does it cost to upskill a whole company in AI?
Function courses cost ₹6,499 per company seat plus GST. AI/ML Foundations is ₹7,500, Level 2 ₹24,000 and LLM Engineering ₹52,000 per company seat. Leadership workshops by Bodhih Training are quoted on request. Multiply by headcount per track to estimate the course budget.
What happens if someone’s score does not improve?
Movement of fewer than 8 points between baseline and the 90-day re-measure is reported as “held steady”. That is useful information: it tells you which competencies or teams need a different intervention, such as coaching or manager support, rather than another course.
Do employees need coding skills?
No. The five Applied AI courses and AI/ML Foundations need no coding. Only the Applied AI/ML Practitioner course (Python) and LLM Engineering assume programming, and those are intended for analysts and engineering teams. Business staff can still take AI/ML Foundations to understand what their technical colleagues build.
