Quick answer

How do I teach my child about AI and online safety at home?

Use short, regular family activities built on four habits: understand how AI guesses from examples, check claims before believing them, guard personal information, and make things rather than only scroll. The Kids' AI and Digital Literacy Kit from Bodhih Training gives parents a 12-week plan, 24 activities, rules, scripts and forms to do it.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

Your child is already using AI and you are not sure what the rules should be

Chatbots appear in homework sites, games and messaging apps. Most families never agree what counts as help and what counts as cheating, or which tools are allowed at which age.

You want to explain AI but do not know where to start

Saying it is just a computer explains nothing, and the hype makes it sound magical. Children need three simple words they can hold on to.

Fake videos and confident wrong answers look real

Deepfakes and invented facts are designed to look convincing. Spotting glitches is not enough; children need a checking habit that works on anything.

Screen arguments go round in circles

Rules made in a moment of frustration rarely stick. Without a record of sleep, activity and screen time, every discussion becomes opinion against opinion.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine a Tuesday evening a few weeks from now. Your child is at the kitchen table with a worksheet and a tablet, and before you say anything they ask, "Is this a helper use or a doer use?" You smile, because the agreement you signed together is on the fridge.

As you open the Digital Family Planner on Sunday night, you can see the week laid out: two short activities, the materials they need and a badge waiting. Whether you start with the Robot or Not cards tonight or the AI tool safety check tomorrow, each step takes minutes, not evenings.

Picture the family chat when a relative forwards a suspicious video. Your ten-year-old runs the Four Checks, finds the warning on a news site and tells their cousins kindly. Notice how good that feels, for them and for you.

And on the hard night, when your child comes downstairs upset by something they saw, you already have calm words ready and a plan you made together. They told you, and they will tell you again.

Outcomes

When you have worked through it, you will be able to…

Every outcome is practised with a worked example and a tool, not just described.

  • Explain what AI is and is not in words a 7-year-old can repeat
  • Decide which apps and AI tools each child may use, with a written reason and a review date
  • Agree clear homework rules for AI with your child and their school
  • Run the Four Checks on any claim, photo or video as a family
  • Write and review a family tech agreement that includes promises from the adults
  • Respond calmly when your child sees something upsetting, and know when to get help
  • Track 12 weeks of activities, screen balance and progress by habit on one dashboard
Measure it

Know your starting point. Prove your progress.

People who measure before and after improve faster and can show it. AssessAll, our sister assessment platform, has AI-graded assessments that pair with this kit. Take one now, work through the kit, then re-take it.

A taste of Chapter 4

The single most important rule for children and AI tools is simple enough for a seven-year-old: We never tell an AI tool our secrets. Secrets means: our full name, our address, our school, our phone number, passwords, photos of us or our friends, and anything about our body or feelings that we would only tell a trusted grown-up. Why? Because what we type into many tools is sent to a company's computers, may be stored, and may in some cases be used to improve the tool. A friendly chatbot is not a friend. It cannot keep a promise. Activity A7 turns this into a sorting game with the "Secret or safe to say?" cards (print pages). "My favourite colour is green" is safe. "I go to St Mary's on Park Road" is a secret. "I feel sad because my parents are arguing" is something to tell a trusted adult, not a chatbot.

Questions buyers ask

Kids' AI and Digital Literacy Kit: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

What age is this kit for?

Children aged 7 to 14. Every activity has a version for ages 7 to 9 and a stretch for older children, so siblings can do the same activity together at different levels.

Do I need to know about technology or coding?

No. The guide explains everything in plain words, and most activities use paper cards rather than screens. If you can play a card game, you can run this programme.

Is ChatGPT or another AI chatbot safe for my child?

It depends on the tool, its terms and your child. Many chatbots set a minimum age of 13 and need parental permission for under-18s; some are for adults only. The kit's AI tool safety check walks you through age, data, content and companion features and helps you choose a supervision level.

How do I stop my child using AI to cheat on homework?

Agree in advance what counts as help. The kit's helper or doer zones and the explain-it-back test make the rule clear, and the honesty agreement and teacher note line your home rules up with the school's policy.

How can my child tell if a video is a deepfake?

Visual clues help, but fakes keep improving, so the kit teaches children to check the source using four questions: how does it make me feel, who made it, what is the evidence, and what do trustworthy sources say.

Does it work for home-educating families?

Yes. It is curriculum-neutral and gives you a structured digital literacy strand with records, a final project and a note you can adapt if your local authority asks how you cover it. Rules on home education differ by country, so check with your local education authority.

How do I measure where my family is starting from?

To measure your starting point, the Digital Parenting and Online Safety Judgment and the Misinformation and Media Literacy assessments on AssessAll give you a baseline, and the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Assessment checks your own AI understanding as a grown-up.

How can I keep learning after the 12 weeks?

Keep a lighter rhythm: one activity a fortnight and an agreement review each term. If you want to turn your own learning into a development plan, Jobulary's guide to learning by doing with the 70-20-10 model is a useful place to start.

Is this professional or legal advice?

No. The kit is educational, not professional, legal or medical advice. Age limits, laws and guidance change and differ by country, so check the official sources listed. If a child is at risk, contact emergency services or your national child-protection service.

Which apps do I need to open the files?

Any spreadsheet app such as Excel or Google Sheets, a word processor such as Word or Google Docs, a PDF reader for the fillable forms, and a printer for the cards and posters. The calendar file imports into Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.

How much does Kids' AI and Digital Literacy Kit cost?

₹799 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $24 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
