The Inventory and Warehouse Control Kit · Bodhih Pro Kits · 183 by Bodhih Training, trainers to 2,000+ companies since 2008.
How do you control inventory in a small business or warehouse?
Keep one clean record per item, classify items by value (ABC) and steadiness of demand (XYZ), set a reorder point and safety stock for each, move stock only with a record, count a few locations weekly, and review slow stock and KPIs monthly. The Inventory and Warehouse Control Kit from Bodhih Training gives you a file for each step.

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.
The stocktake that nobody can explain
Once a year the count finds goods missing and goods that have not moved in months. The causes are a year old, the evidence is gone, and the adjustment is posted with the words 'count error'.
Out of what matters, full of what does not
A key item runs out and stops a customer, while the racks are full of things bought because the discount looked good. Ordering by eye protects nothing in particular.
An item list that means different things to different people
The same gloves exist under two codes, welding wire is held in kilograms in one place and spools in another, and half the variances turn out to be definitions rather than losses.
Receiving against the delivery note
The supplier's paperwork says 250, so 250 is signed for. A short delivery quietly becomes your shrinkage, and nobody can prove what arrived.
Forecasts that live in one person's head
Someone who has been there for years knows what sells before the festival season. When they are on leave, the reorder decisions stop or become guesses.
No numbers for the monthly review
The owner asks whether stock is under control. Turns, accuracy, fill rate and shrinkage are not measured anywhere, so the answer is a feeling.
Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.
Picture the first Monday. You open the Start Here map, type your currency, service levels and approval limits into the Settings sheet, and paste your item list into the Item Master. By lunchtime the rows with no unit, no cost or no bin are highlighted, and you know exactly what to clean this week.
Now it is week three. As you paste twelve months of issues into Demand History, the ABC and XYZ classes fill themselves in and the Reorder Planner shows a safety stock, a reorder point and an order quantity for every item. On Monday morning the Dashboard lists four items at ORDER NOW and one purchase order past its promised date. Ten minutes and two messages from the library later, both are handled.
Imagine count day in week five. You print the Cycle Count Sheet blind for the A items, read the two-minute briefing aloud, and forty minutes later you have four variances with their causes still warm. Recount first, investigate second, and only then does an adjustment go on the form, with the approval its value needs.
And then the monthly review. Someone asks whether stock is better or just different. You open the Dashboard: accuracy, fill rate, stock turns, days of inventory, shrinkage and supplier on-time rate, side by side. Whether you start with the e-book tonight or the workbook tomorrow morning, the next count starts from everything this one taught you.

The Inventory and Warehouse Control Kit (e-book, PDF)
The guide: methods, worked examples, scripts and exercises
Start here: inventory control map
The whole stock control job as six steps with the file to open at each, your first hour, a 30/60/90 day use plan and links to measure your starting point.
Inventory Control Workbook
14-sheet workbook: settings, item master with ABC and XYZ classes, demand history with moving-average forecast, reorder planner with safety stock and EOQ, stock on hand with order and count flags, purchase orders, receiving log, cycle counts, slow-moving review, adjustments with approval levels, monthly KPIs and two dashboards with charts.
EOQ, safety stock and reorder calculator

Goods receipt and inspection form
Two-page fillable form for every delivery: identify the order, count and inspect against the purchase order, record discrepancies and damage, decide accept, quarantine or reject, and confirm put-away. Mirrors the Receiving Log sheet.
Cycle count sheet
Two-page blind count sheet: locations to count without the system quantity showing, recount column, variance and root-cause capture, and a sign-off with the accuracy result. Mirrors the Cycle Counts sheet.
Stock adjustment, write-off and slow stock review form
Three-page fillable form: a stock adjustment or write-off request with investigation notes and tiered approval, and a slow-moving and obsolete stock review that records a decision, an owner and a date for every item.
Warehouse housekeeping and safety audit
Two-page fillable walk-round audit: a 5S housekeeping score by zone, a hazard checklist for vehicles, racking, manual handling, hazardous and cold-chain storage, and an action list with owners. Educational tool, not a legal inspection.
Warehouse procedures pack and layout guide
8 working procedures (receiving and inspection, put-away and storage, picking, packing and dispatch, transfers, returns, cycle counting, adjustments and write-offs), each with purpose, roles, steps, records and controls, plus a layout and labelling guide covering zones, bin codes, slotting, FIFO and FEFO, hazardous and cold-chain basics and visual control.
Item master data standard (one-pager)
A one-page standard the team can adopt: what every item record must contain, how SKU codes and descriptions are written, which unit of measure is the stock unit, who may create or change an item, and how changes are logged.
Inventory message and script library
36 ready-to-edit messages and spoken scripts in 6 groups: supplier discrepancy and return notices, stock-out and allocation alerts to sales, count notices and instructions, write-off and approval emails, safety notices and scripts for hard moments.
Stocktake plan and notices pack
A full stocktake plan template (scope, freeze, teams, zones, count tags, cut-off, recount and reconciliation rules, sign-off), plus three ready-to-send documents: the staff notice, the stock freeze notice to customers and suppliers, and the count team briefing script.
Worked example pack: a 200-SKU stockroom from chaos to monthly cycle counts
The main forms, decisions and numbers shown completed for one composite case over eight weeks, from a failed stocktake to a working cycle count programme, so you can see what good looks like before you start.
AI prompt pack for inventory control
28 tool-agnostic prompts grouped by the six steps of the control loop (know, classify, plan, move, count, improve), each with what to paste in and what to check before you use the output.
Reorder decision, formulas and count day cards
Two cards in one file: an if-this-then-that card for twelve reorder moments plus every formula in the kit in words and symbols, and a count day card with twelve moves, root cause codes, tolerance and frequency by class.
Inventory mistakes to avoid
Mistakes-to-avoid card: fifteen common faults with what they look like, what to do instead and the file that prevents each, plus five signs that stock is hiding a problem.
Stock tax, standards and safety notes (October 2026)
Dated quick reference: inventory valuation under IFRS and US GAAP in plain words, indirect tax notes on stock movements for India, the UK, the US, the Gulf, Singapore, Australia, the Philippines and Africa, standards you may be asked about, and software categories.
8-week inventory control rollout calendar
48 calendar events over eight weeks: settings and item master, demand and classes, reorder points, procedures, the first count cycles by class, slow-stock reviews, safety walks and the monthly review, each naming the file to open. Import into a new calendar and move to your dates.
Inventory rollout task board import
33 rollout tasks as a CSV ready to import into Trello, Asana, Notion, Planner or Jira, with step, week, owner, file to open and due date.

A full stocktake counts everything at once. It is sometimes required for the accounts, and it is the right way to reset a system nobody trusts. As a control it is poor: a year of errors arrive in one weekend, and the evidence about why is gone. Cycle counting counts a few locations every working day, A items most often, so the whole stock is verified across the year without a shutdown and every variance is investigated while the trail is fresh. The Item Master sets the frequency by class from Settings (the sample: A monthly, B quarterly, C twice a year), and the Stock on Hand sheet shows which items are Overdue or Due this week. If your accuracy is below about 80%, do one full stocktake with the Stocktake-Plan-and-Notices-Pack to reset, then switch to cycle counts.
The honest comparison
| Free templates and typical advice | This kit | |
|---|---|---|
| Item list | Whatever the invoicing system holds | A data standard, a cleaning method and an item master every other sheet reads from |
| Reordering | Order when it looks low | ABC and XYZ classes, safety stock by service level, reorder points and a review method per item |
| Receiving | Sign the delivery note | Count against the purchase order, inspect, log discrepancies and send the notice the same day |
| Counting | One annual stocktake | Blind cycle counts by class, recount before investigating, root cause codes and tiered approvals |
| Slow stock | Left on the shelf at full cost | A monthly review with an action, an owner and a date, and the buying rule fixed |
| AI and country rules | Not mentioned, or one country assumed | Human review rules, a 28-prompt pack and dated tax, standards and safety notes for several regions |
| Measurement | A blank tracker | Live stock turns, days of inventory, fill rate, accuracy, shrinkage and supplier on-time rate |

Probably not for you if…
- Anyone looking for tax, accounting or legal advice: the kit teaches good practice and keeps country notes in one sheet dated October 2026, with a reminder to check your accountant and local law

The Inventory and Warehouse Control Kit: FAQs
Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my linkHow do I calculate a reorder point?
Multiply average daily demand by the supplier's lead time in days, then add safety stock. Order when available stock plus stock on order falls to that level. The Reorder Planner sheet does this for every item from your demand history and the service levels on the Settings sheet.
How much safety stock should I hold?
Enough to cover the surprises in demand and in lead time at the service level you choose for each class, for example higher for A items than for C items. The kit's formula includes lead time variability, and the calculator's Service Level Table shows what each extra point of service costs in stock. For erratic items, judgement beats any formula.
Is cycle counting better than an annual stocktake?
As a control, usually yes: cycle counts find errors while the causes are still traceable and do not close the warehouse. A full stocktake is still the right way to reset a system nobody trusts, and your accounts may require one. The kit includes both a cycle count method and a stocktake plan, and your auditor or accountant can confirm what your accounts need.
How do I reduce slow-moving and obsolete stock?
List items by months since last issue, give each slow or obsolete line an action, an owner and a date, and work through return, transfer, discount, substitution and finally scrap. Then fix the buying rule that caused it. The Slow Moving sheet and page 3 of the adjustment form run this review monthly.
Can AI forecast demand or spot stock problems for me?
AI can suggest seasonality, rank forecast error, draft notices and flag unusual movements. A person who knows the customers and the warehouse should decide every order, reorder point change, adjustment and conversation about a loss. The prompt pack has 28 prompts, each with what to check before you use the output.
How do I measure my starting point in inventory and warehouse judgement?
AssessAll offers assessments that match this kit: Demand and Inventory Planning Judgment for Supply Chain and Operations Teams, Warehouse and Logistics Operations Judgment, and Estimation and Number Sense. Take one before you start and again after a few count cycles. Links are on the Start Here map; the assessments are separate products and not included.
How do I turn this into a development plan for my stores team?
Pick one or two skills from the kit for each person, such as blind counting, receiving against the purchase order or reading the KPIs, and build them into a plan with dates. Jobulary explains how its development plans work, and the link is on the Start Here map.
Do I need inventory software to use the kit?
No. The workbook runs a stockroom of a few hundred items on one site with counts by hand. When you outgrow it, Chapter 10 and a prompt in the pack help you write the requirements for an inventory module or a warehouse system, and the method carries over.
Is this tax, accounting or safety advice?
No. The kit teaches good practice and keeps country specifics in one sheet dated October 2026. Valuation, tax on stock movements and warehouse safety rules differ by country and change often, so check your accountant, your national safety regulator and a qualified professional before acting.
Which software do I need?
The workbooks open in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and use no macros. The forms are fillable in Acrobat Reader and most PDF apps, the templates open in Word or Google Docs, the calendar imports into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, and the CSV imports into Trello, Asana, Notion, Planner or Jira.
What is the refund policy?
Digital kits are non-refundable once downloaded. The exceptions are corrupted files that are not fixed within 3 working days, duplicate charges, or failed delivery.
How much does The Inventory and Warehouse Control Kit cost?
₹999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How do I get the files after paying?
Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.
What software do I need?
Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.
Can I get a refund?
Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.
Can my company buy this for a team?
Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
