Teach L&D teams to design gamification that motivates — in a programme that is itself a game.
Gamification in Training is a 2-day design programme for learning professionals, built on the GAME framework and the research of Chou, Deci & Ryan, Marczewski, Kapp and McGonigal. Participants experience a gamified programme while learning to build one, and leave with a complete Game Design Document.
- The programme is gamified — participants play the system they are learning to design, then evaluate it
- Research-grounded: Octalysis, Self-Determination Theory, Hexad player types and the Kirkpatrick model
- A running case, Nexus Technology Group, facing a 43% compliance-training completion crisis
- Four failure modes covered head-on — overreward, leaderboard demotivation, badge inflation and the fun-learning trade-off
- Ends with a 45-minute 'final boss' Game Design Document sprint

The workshop is on the calendar. The material isn’t.
Points, badges and not much else
Stakeholders hear 'gamification' and picture a leaderboard. Teaching the motivational science underneath — and when mechanics backfire — needs far more than a list of game elements.
A gamified course about gamification is hard to build
To be credible, the programme should practise what it teaches. Designing a game layer across two days, then revealing and evaluating it with participants, is a serious design project in itself.
Sceptical sponsors
L&D teams need to prove gamification works and avoid the failures that make it look gimmicky. Without a measurement approach and failure-mode thinking, the idea rarely survives the budget meeting.
Picture the evening before your programme.
Picture Day 1. Participants arrive and quickly realise they are inside a game — missions, progress and choices built into the programme itself. You Ground the Science: what gamification is and is not, Self-Determination Theory, and Yu-kai Chou's eight Octalysis core drives, before they run an Octalysis audit of a programme they already manage.
Then they Architect the mechanics: points, badges and leaderboards with failure-mode prevention, narrative and mission design, social and structural mechanics, and feedback loops — all applied to the Nexus Technology Group case, where compliance completion has stalled at 43%.
Day 2 turns to Motivate and Measure — Marczewski's Hexad player types, persona design and Kirkpatrick Level 1–4 metrics — and to the four failure modes, told through case studies where gamification demotivated rather than inspired. Execute and Evaluate brings the 45-minute Game Design Document sprint, then the reveal: participants evaluate the gamified programme they have just experienced.
It is the kind of programme people talk about afterwards — and you'll notice how quickly they start redesigning their own courses in the breaks.

Everything for the room. Nothing left to build.
Unlocks the moment you pay. Until then, here is exactly what you will be downloading.
What your participants will be able to do
Designed for L&D practitioners and learning designers; training managers responsible for engagement and completion rates and any leader responsible for team learning.
- Distinguish gamification from game-based learning and serious games
- Audit an existing programme against the Octalysis core drives
- Design points, badges and leaderboards that avoid common failure modes
- Build narrative, mission, social and feedback-loop mechanics into a learning programme
- Create player personas using Marczewski's Hexad types
- Set up a Kirkpatrick Level 1–4 metrics system for gamified learning
- Produce a complete Game Design Document for a real programme
- Commit to a 90-day gamification practice plan
Walk in with data. Walk out with proof.
Trainers who measure before and after design sharper sessions — and get rebooked. AssessAll, our sister assessment platform, has assessments that sit naturally alongside this programme.
Walk in knowing where every participant starts.
Pair Gamification in Training with an AssessAll assessment. Participants take it before the workshop, so you can tune the emphasis to the room; they retake it afterwards, so you can show the client what actually moved. Better-targeted sessions, and evidence that wins the next booking.

Offer a distinctive, research-grounded design programme that shows your practice in action.
18 years in real training rooms, packaged for yours.
Bodhih Training has designed and delivered corporate programmes since 2008 — for first-time managers, sales teams, leadership cohorts and whole organisations. These toolkits are that reach, distilled: the structures, activities and materials that hold up in front of real participants, written so another trainer can pick them up and deliver with confidence.

The rest of the Bodhih family, when you need it
Make the workshop last beyond the room
A workshop is two days; the behaviour change takes months. Jobulary turns assessment evidence into a focused individual development plan (IDP) — a few quarterly objectives built on real work, re-measured honestly. Give every Gamification in Training participant a plan to carry forward.
IDPs are launching soon — the working demo is free to explore now, no sign-up.

What is the GAME framework for gamification in training?
GAME is the four-part structure of this programme: Ground the science of gamification, Architect game mechanics for learning, Motivate and measure engagement, and Execute and evaluate your gamified design.
What is the Octalysis framework?
Octalysis is Yu-kai Chou's model of eight core drives that explain why people engage with games. In this programme participants use it to audit an existing training programme and identify which drives it activates — and which it ignores.
Can gamification make training worse?
Yes, if it is poorly designed. The programme covers four failure modes — the overreward trap, the leaderboard demotivator, badge inflation and the fun-learning trade-off — with case studies and mitigation design.
What exactly do I get in the Gamification in Training trainer toolkit?
14 editable files: Training Design Document, Facilitator Guide, Slide Deck — Simple Backup, Slide Deck — Main, Virtual Delivery Guide, Participant Workbook, Pre-Work Material, Case Studies, Role-Play Scenario Pack, Quick Reference Cards, Assessment Instruments, Participant Feedback Form, Certificate Template, Marketing Toolkit. Word and PowerPoint formats, so you can add your own branding and examples — and a single ZIP to download everything at once.
How much does the Gamification in Training toolkit cost?
₹2,999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How and when do I receive the files?
Immediately. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. The link works from any device without a password.
Can I deliver this programme to my clients and put my own logo on it?
Licensed to the buyer to deliver this programme to their own participants and clients, in person or online, and to adapt and brand the material. Reselling or redistributing the files is not permitted.
How can I measure what participants learn in Gamification in Training?
The toolkit includes its own assessment instruments and feedback form. For a scored pre- and post-workshop measure, pair it with an assessment from AssessAll, Bodhih's sister assessment platform — for example Lesson Design and Questioning Technique Assessment for Teachers and Trainers or Training Evaluation and Programme Effectiveness Assessment for L&D and HR Teams. If nothing fits, you can build your own assessment on AssessAll or ask the AssessAll team to create one for you.
