Quick answer

What does good thoughts, good words, good deeds mean for leaders?

Good thoughts, good words, good deeds (humata, hukhta, hvarshta) is an ancient Zoroastrian ethic of aligning intent, speech and action. For leaders it means making precise promises, reporting truthfully and keeping them visibly. Bodhih Training's kit turns it into daily, weekly and monthly practices with a say-do ledger and templates.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

Promises that quietly lapse

You say yes in meetings, corridors and chats, sincerely. Half the promises have no date, and a week later people are chasing you. Nobody calls it dishonest; they just stop relying on your word.

Green reports with red insides

Every status looks fine until it suddenly doesn't. People shade the truth to protect each other, and the bad news arrives late, expensive and in front of the board.

Errors that hide

Someone spots a mistake and waits for the right moment. The error took a minute; the silence takes nine days, and the cost is in the silence.

Explanations instead of ownership

Reviews are full of what happened to the team and short on what the team decided. Blame drifts sideways and nothing changes.

Merged teams that don't feel merged

The buying team's way becomes the way. Valued practices vanish by calendar invitation, quiet sites go quieter, and whole offices get labelled.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Picture tomorrow morning. Before you open the inbox, you write three lines: what you intend, what you'll say, and the one deed that proves it. At 17:30 you count the promises due and kept, and you notice the gap while it is still small.

On Friday you open the team meeting with one error someone surfaced this week. As you thank the person who found it before anyone asks a question, notice how the room changes, and how next week two more people bring you something.

When the next merger or reorganisation lands, you open the Inclusion Check before you redesign anything. You ask each group what must survive. Imagine a site that has been silent for months telling you, in its own channel, what it needs.

Twelve weeks from now, whether you started with the morning intention or the Promise Ledger, you will have a kept-faith rate, an error log with shrinking clocks and a team pulse trend, and a team that knows your word means something.

A taste of the Introduction

It is 08:40 on the first Monday of January in Bengaluru, and Kavita Rao is looking at a slide she wrote on Friday. It says the month-end close for December is green. Underneath, in a font size she chose on purpose, it says "minor timing items". The minor timing items are two unstarted bank reconciliations, an exchange-rate table that may be out of date, and a new Johannesburg team whose public holidays nobody put in the calendar. Kavita heads finance operations for a group that has just bought a rival, and her job, Project Meridian, is to merge teams in Bengaluru, Manchester, Manila and Johannesburg into one shared-services centre. At 10:00 she will present to the CFO. She knows what she thinks: the close is amber. She knows what the slide says: green. And she knows what she will do if she says nothing: spend Thursday night fixing it and hope nobody notices.

Questions buyers ask

Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

What does good thoughts, good words, good deeds mean?

It is the English form of humata, hukhta, hvarshta, a three-part ethic from the Avesta, the ancient texts of Zoroastrianism. It asks that what you intend, what you say and what you do line up. The kit turns that into a morning intention, an evening say-do check and a ledger of promises.

Is this a religious book?

No. It is a leadership kit that draws on the ethics of a living faith, with respect. It teaches no ritual, belief or theology and makes no claims about the divine, and it is written for leaders of any faith or none.

Which translations do you use, and why?

Every quotation is copied word for word from public-domain translations: L. H. Mills's Yasna and Gathas (1887), James Darmesteter's Vendidad (1880), G. C. Macaulay's Herodotus (1890), R. W. Rogers's Cyrus Cylinder (1912) and the World English Bible. We use them so that no modern translator's work is copied. The 54 quotations are registered and checked; everything else is Bodhih Training's original writing.

Is the Cyrus Cylinder the first charter of human rights?

That popular claim is disputed by scholars, and the British Museum, which holds the cylinder, notes that it says nothing of human rights. It is a royal inscription in a Babylonian tradition. The kit quotes what it says about restoring homes and returning people, and is honest that it is also propaganda.

How do I measure my say-do ratio?

Each evening, type the promises due and the promises kept in the Daily Log sheet; the workbook calculates your daily and weekly ratio. For the team, the Say-Do Integrity Ledger tracks every promise and calculates a kept-faith rate by month, counting early renegotiation as keeping faith.

How do I build a culture where people surface errors?

Run a ten-minute weekly truth review: the leader shares an error first, the team names one error surfaced that week, the finder is thanked before any question, and the discussion asks what, not who. The Error Log measures days to surface and days to fix so you can see the culture change.

Will this help with a merger or a multicultural team?

Yes. Chapter 8, the Many-Peoples form and the Inclusion Check sheet help you ask each group how it works, keep what must survive, restore what change took and check every month, without stereotyping any culture.

How do I measure my starting point?

If you want an outside view, AssessAll offers Ethical Leadership and Judgment, What You're Like to Work With, and Team Building and Collaboration assessments. They are separate products; the kit's own dashboards and Team Pulse track your practice over twelve weeks.

Can I turn this into a development plan?

Yes. Many leaders carry the habits that stick into a personal development plan. You can build one on Jobulary, a separate product, using your Weekly Review notes and say-do numbers as evidence; its guide to if-then plans pairs well with the morning intention.

Does it replace HR, legal or compliance advice?

No. The kit is educational. Fraud, misconduct, safety issues, harassment, discrimination and regulated disclosures follow your organisation's formal process and local law: talk to your HR, legal or compliance team.

How does it relate to other Bodhih kits?

It goes deep on integrity, truthfulness and respect across groups. For ten traditions applied to personal life see Old Wisdom for Modern Days; for hard feedback see the Difficult Conversations Kit; for Xenophon's idealised Cyrus see Xenophon's Leadership Lessons.

How much does Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds cost?

₹1,299 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $34 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
