Quick answer

How can leaders use the I Ching?

Leaders can read the I Ching (Book of Changes) as a library of 64 situations met in change, such as difficulty at the beginning, obstruction, deliverance and before completion, each with a fitting response. Bodhih Training's kit turns this into a diagnostic, timing checks and a daily practice, without divination or prediction.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

One answer for every moment

Most leadership advice says 'be bold' or 'communicate more' whatever is happening. Real change needs different moves at different moments, and the wrong move makes things worse.

Pushing when you should wait

You escalate a blocker for the fourth time, or launch into peak season, because waiting feels like failure. Timing is a skill, and few leaders are taught it.

Plans that never hold

You re-plan every month as if the next plan will be the one that lasts. The purpose is fine; it is the response that needs to change with the situation.

Teams that disagree on where they are

Half the team sees a crisis, half sees a minor delay. Without a shared language for the moment, every meeting restarts the same argument.

Declaring victory too early

The project is 'done' at 94 per cent, and the last six per cent is where it fails. Nearly done is a situation of its own.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Picture next Monday at 07:45. Before email, you write one line: 'Today feels like 39, Obstruction. Call: prepare.' You notice, almost with relief, that the right move is not a fourth escalation but a look at your own part in the block.

At the team meeting, everyone rates the eight readings in two minutes. As you compare the scores, notice where the widest gap is; that is where the useful conversation starts. The team chooses the card, reads its question aloud and agrees one response and one mistake to avoid.

When the big decision comes, you open the advance-or-hold check before you commit. Imagine telling your steering committee, calmly, 'We are ready, but conditions are not; we hold until the 24th, and here is what we are preparing.'

Twelve weeks from now, whether you began with the morning check or with the Sorter, your Journal will show the path your team has travelled through situations, and the signals that came first. The next turn will not surprise you in the same way.

A taste of the Introduction

It is 07:40 on a Monday in Johannesburg, and Lerato Mokoena has three messages open. The chief executive wants Project Riverbend, claims handling on a new platform with AI-assisted triage, live in twelve weeks. Two senior assessors in Cape Town have resigned. And the vendor team in Pune says its data feed is "blocked pending security review". Lerato has a plan, a budget and a steering committee. What she lacks is an answer to the question under all three messages: what kind of moment is this? A time to push or to wait? To organise or to repair? Most leadership advice gives one answer for every moment: be bold, communicate more. Real change does not work like that. Monday's right move can be wrong by Thursday, because the situation has turned into another. This kit gives you a library of situations, a way to work out which one you are in, and a response for each.

I Ching for Change Leadership: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

What is the I Ching?

The I Ching (Yijing), or Book of Changes, is a classic Chinese text built on 64 six-line figures with short statements, plus commentaries known as the Ten Wings. Its core is traditionally credited to King Wen and the Duke of Zhou and placed by scholars in the Western Zhou period; the commentaries were traditionally attributed to Confucius and are dated later by scholars.

Is this a religious book, or does it teach divination?

Neither. The kit reads the Book of Changes as philosophy and heritage put to work in leadership. It teaches no divination, coin or yarrow-stalk casting, prediction or fortune-telling, and cards are chosen by honest diagnosis, never by chance. It treats the text, and the people who hold it in respect, with care.

Which translation do you use, and why?

Every quotation is copied word for word from James Legge's The Yi King (Sacred Books of the East, volume 16, Oxford, 1882), which is in the public domain. Legge's English is Victorian, so each line is followed by our own plain-words rendering. The 80 quotations are registered and checked; everything else, including the situation names, is Bodhih Training's original writing.

How do I choose the right situation?

Answer the 24 questions in the Situation Sorter. It gives eight readings and compares them with a profile for each of the 64 situations, then shows the three best fits with the response and the mistake to avoid. You read them, talk with your team and choose by judgement.

Why are there 52 cards and 64 situations?

The deck holds 52 situations so a team can use one a week for a year. The other 12 overlap closely with others and are covered in Appendix A of the e-book, the one-page-each reference and the Sorter, which scores all 64.

How do I know when to push and when to wait?

Ask two questions: are we ready, and are the conditions right? Ready and right means advance; right but not ready means prepare; ready but not right means hold; neither means withdraw or reshape. The Advance-or-Hold-Timing-Check form walks you through it and sets a review date.

How do I measure my starting point?

If you want an outside view, AssessAll offers Decision-Making Under Uncertainty, Strategic Thinking & Business Judgment, and Resilience & Stress Management assessments. They are separate products; the kit's own Sorter, Team Pulse and Dashboard track your practice over twelve weeks.

Can I turn this into a development plan?

Yes. At the end of the twelve weeks, take the habits that stuck into a personal development plan. A new quarter is a natural fresh start, and Jobulary (a separate product) explains how to use the fresh-start effect to reset a goal.

Does it replace HR, legal or medical advice?

No. The kit is educational. Job changes, consultation, wellbeing concerns and possible misconduct follow your organisation's process and local law: talk to your HR team, and point people in distress to support such as an employee assistance programme or their doctor.

How does it relate to other Bodhih kits?

It goes deep on reading the moment and leading change. For ten traditions applied to personal life, see Old Wisdom for Modern Days; for a first management role, The First 90 Days as a Manager System; for one-to-ones, delegation, hard feedback and negotiation, the One-to-One and Feedback System, the Delegation and Workload Planner, the Difficult Conversations Kit and the Negotiation and Influence Kit.

How much does I Ching for Change Leadership cost?

₹1,299 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $34 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
