The Photography Studio Business System · Bodhih Pro Kits · 279 by Bodhih Training, trainers to 2,000+ companies since 2008.
How do I price photography sessions so they actually make money?
Add up your yearly cost of doing business, add the pay you need, and divide by the client hours you can really work. That is your required revenue per client hour. Then check every package against it, counting editing and admin time. The Photography Studio Business System from Bodhih Training does this in one workbook.
Want the full free guide first? Read How to price photography sessions so every hour is paid.
You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.
Busy diary, thin bank balance
Mini sessions and small packages fill the calendar, but once culling, editing and messages are counted, some of them lose money. Without the hours in front of you, it is hard to see which.
Enquiries that go cold
A slow first reply, no price guidance and no clear next step, and the client books someone else. The work was good; the path was not.
One failed drive away from disaster
Cards formatted on hope, backups never restored, and no record of which shoot has three copies. It works until the day it does not.
Commercial clients who want everything forever
A flat fee for 'some product photos' becomes billboards and packaging a month later. Without usage defined in writing, there is nothing to extend.
Consent and AI questions you cannot answer quickly
Who agreed to their child's image on Instagram, and when does the brand licence end? Can you use generative fill on a client image? These need a register and a policy, not memory.
Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.
Imagine the first Monday of next month. You open the Dashboard with a coffee and, as you read the traffic lights, you already know which package earns what per hour, which gallery is due, which card is safe to format and which licence ends in spring.
When the next enquiry arrives, you reply within the hour from a saved message, with a price, a typical total spend and two dates. The consultation form asks the questions you used to forget. The Sessions sheet tells you who still owes a deposit.
On the shoot day, the checklist poster is by the door and the lighting card is on the wall. That evening the card goes into the backup routine, and the Backup Log tells you, in plain words, when it is safe to format.
Whether you start with the pricing sheets tonight or the message library tomorrow, each file stands on its own and all of them talk to each other. As you fill in your own numbers, the method becomes yours.

Pricing starts with what the studio costs to exist for a year. Photographers call this the cost of doing business, often shortened to CODB. It includes rent, utilities, insurance, software, marketing, accounting, travel, training, wages for anyone who helps, and the slow cost of gear wearing out (depreciation: the purchase price spread over its useful life). The PPA's own pricing article puts the stakes plainly: it says its benchmark research finds the average photographer takes home about 20% of gross income, with the rest going on running the business. Whatever your own percentage turns out to be, the costs have to be in the price before any of it is yours. Add the pay you need, and divide by the hours you can really spend on clients in a year. That gives you the one number every price must clear: required revenue per client hour.
The honest comparison
| Free templates and typical advice | This kit | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | A price list copied from competitors | Cost of doing business, required revenue per client hour and a margin check on every package |

| Commercial work | A flat fee with unlimited use | Creative fee, usage licence and expenses, with a licence builder and register |

| Client words | A handful of email templates | 56 messages including hard moments, weather, late payment and licence renewals |

The Photography Studio Business System: FAQs
Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my linkHow do I price photography sessions?
Start with your cost of doing business for a year, add the pay you need, and divide by the client hours you can really work. Every package must clear that hourly figure once editing, admin and sales time are counted. The workbook and calculator in this kit do the arithmetic.
Does it work for product and commercial photography as well as portraits?
Yes. Chapter 8 and the calculator cover commercial estimates as creative fee, usage licence and expenses, marketplace product work and releases. The workbook logs commercial jobs and licences alongside portrait sessions.
Can I use this with my staff (or team, assistants, editors)?
Yes, within your own business under the personal licence: share the workbook, forms and templates with your assistant, second shooter or editor. For company-wide or multi-site licences, contact solutions@bodhih.com.
Does it work in my country?
The method is universal and the workbook works in any currency. The dated Country Notes sheet covers commissioned-photo copyright in the UK, US, India, Australia and Canada and points to official sources for consumer, data and tax rules. Laws differ and change, so check locally with a lawyer, accountant or professional body.
Are the contract and release templates legally valid?
No. They are plain-words starting points that list the choices you need to make. Take them to a lawyer or your professional body to turn into documents for your country.
I already use studio management or gallery software. Do I still need this?
Many photographers use software for galleries and invoices. This kit adds the method and the numbers around it: cost of doing business, package margins, the backup routine, licence and consent registers and a monthly dashboard. Use it alongside your tools.
How should I use AI in my photography business?
Let AI assist culling, editing and drafting, review every image a client sees yourself, disclose generative changes and never alter identity without agreement. The book's AI section, a policy page and a prompt pack show how, tool-agnostic.
How can I measure my starting point?
Measure your starting point with the Small Business Operating Decision Assessment for Shop, Service and Studio Owners or the Freelance and Client Work Judgment assessment on AssessAll (assessall.com). For client conversations, the Customer Interaction Judgement assessment is another option.
How do I turn what I learn into a development plan?
Jobulary (jobulary.com) helps you turn the skills in this kit into a development plan for yourself or your team, with steps and check-ins.
Is this kit financial or legal advice?
No. It is educational and practical. Prices, tax, copyright and consumer rules depend on your situation and country: check your accountant, lawyer and professional body before you rely on any figure or template.
How much does The Photography Studio Business System cost?
₹1,299 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $34 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How do I get the files after paying?
Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.
What software do I need?
Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.
Can I get a refund?
Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.
Can my company buy this for a team?
Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
