Quick answer

How do I keep consent and patch test records in a salon?

Use one versioned consent form per treatment family, signed before treatment; record every patch test with date, product, batch, area, practitioner, decision and next-due date; update screening each visit; log aftercare, photos and reactions; store securely and audit monthly. Bodhih Training's Treatment Consent and Aftercare System gives you the templates, logs and routine.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

The drawer nobody wants to open

Forms on three letterheads, some unsigned, patch tests in a notebook with no batch numbers. The treatments were careful; the paperwork cannot prove it.

Nobody knows who is due a re-test

Regulars come back every few weeks and nobody checks the date of their last test, or whether the product has changed since. There is no next-due column anywhere.

Declines that sound like rejection

A practitioner knows they should pause, but not what to say. The client hears 'you're not welcome' and does not come back, and nothing is logged.

The insurer asks for records

A renewal letter or a claim asks you to produce consultation, consent and patch-test records. You find out what you have when you need it most.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine the last Thursday of the month. You close the booking system at four, open the Records Audit Sampler, paste the month's client IDs and pull the ten files it picks. Each one has a signed form on the current version, a screening update, a patch test with its batch number and a decision, a treatment record and an aftercare code. It takes ten minutes, and you notice you are not holding your breath.

When you fill in the Treatment Catalogue on day one, setting each patch-test flag from your manufacturers' instructions, the rest of the system starts to work for you: the consent register checks versions, the patch-test log calculates next-due dates, and the visit checks show a Gap the moment something is missing.

Picture the hard moment at the chair, too. A client's answer means your training says pause. You already know the words, because you practised script R2 with a colleague, and the client leaves feeling looked after, with a note and a rebooked date.

Whether you start with your busiest treatment's consent form tonight or the patch-test log tomorrow morning, the first complete client file is less than an hour away.

A taste of Chapter 5

Many products used in beauty treatments, such as hair colours, lash adhesives, tints and some lamination and skin products, come with manufacturer instructions about patch or skin testing. Those instructions, your training and your insurer's conditions decide whether a test is needed, how it is applied, how and when it is read, and how often it is repeated. This kit decides none of that. What it does is make sure every test leaves a record with six things on it: the date, the product as named on the pack, the batch number, the area tested, who did it, and the practitioner's recorded result and decision. Plus one more, which is the one most notebooks miss: the date the next test is due.

Questions buyers ask

The Treatment Consent and Aftercare System: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

Does this kit tell me which screening questions to ask or what aftercare to give?

No, and that is deliberate. It is a records and administration system. Every template has practitioner boxes for the screening questions, patch-test instructions, risks and aftercare that your training, insurer, product manufacturer and professional body supply. The kit gives you the structure, the logs, the scripts and the routine around that content.

Is this medical or legal advice?

No. It is educational business and records content, not medical, dermatological, nutritional, exercise, legal or insurance advice. The templates are starting points, not legally valid documents on their own. Have your final wording reviewed by your insurer and, where you can, a qualified adviser, and check your local licensing authority and data protection law.

How do I keep patch test records in a salon?

Record six things for every test: the date, the product as named on the pack, the batch number, the area, who did it and the practitioner's recorded result and decision. Add the date the next test is due, from your manufacturer's instructions and insurer. The Patch-Test Log sheet calculates next-due dates and flags tests that are due soon or out of date.

Can I use this with my staff or team?

Yes, within your own business under the personal licence: your practitioners, front desk and managers can use the forms, logs, scripts and print pack every day. For company-wide, multi-site or franchise licences, contact solutions@bodhih.com.

Does it work in my country?

The method is universal: a versioned form set, a patch-test log, a refer-or-decline route, secure storage and a monthly audit. The dated country sheet covers the UK nations, the US, Canada, Australia, India, the UAE, Singapore, the EU and several African and Asian countries in general terms, correct at October 2026. Licensing, age rules, retention and data protection still need checking locally.

Which treatments does it cover?

There are 11 consent templates by treatment family: hair colour and chemical services, lash and brow, nails, waxing and threading, facials and skin, massage and spa body, laser, IPL and devices, semi-permanent make-up, spray tan, fitness and movement, and nutrition coaching. Fitness and nutrition get light templates; their full screening admin lives in Bodhih's personal trainer, studio and nutrition coach kits.

Do the spreadsheets hold client health information?

No. The workbook uses client IDs and records Yes or No for things like 'screening updated this visit' and a reason category for any refer or decline. Health answers stay on the signed form, stored securely as the records procedure explains.

Can I use a digital consent app instead of paper?

Yes. The forms work on paper or as content for a consent app, and the procedure includes a nine-question checklist for choosing one, including whether your insurer accepts its electronic signatures. The workbook tracks completeness whichever you use.

How can I measure my team's starting point?

AssessAll, a sister platform, offers the Client Consultation and Contraindication Screening Assessment for Beauty, Salon and Spa Therapists, the Personal Data Judgment assessment and the Attention to Detail and Error Checking assessment. They are separate products, useful before and after you introduce the routine.

How do I turn the routine into habits that stick?

Tie each step to a trigger with if-then plans: 'If a client sits in the chair, then I open their form first.' Jobulary's guide to implementation intentions at work explains the idea and how to write them, and the filing routine poster gives you a place to put them.

How much does The Treatment Consent and Aftercare System cost?

₹999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
