Quick answer

What can a nutrition coach do, and how do you run the practice safely?

A nutrition coach usually coaches habits and routines around eating and refers diagnosis, treatment, meal plans, targets and supplement questions to regulated professionals. The Nutrition Coach Practice Kit from Bodhih Training gives you the scope statement, referral process, intake and consent templates, pricing tools and claims checks to run that practice, without nutritional advice.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

The line between coaching and advice is blurry

Clients ask for meal plans, targets and supplement tips in messages at 10 pm. Without written scope and ready words, it is easy to drift into advice you are not trained or insured to give.

'See a dietitian' is not a referral

Telling someone to see a professional, without a name, a route, consent rules and a follow-up, leaves the client with the problem. It also leaves you without a record that you acted properly.

Prices that ignore the real hours

Check-ins, notes and messages quietly double the time a programme takes. Many coaches only find out when they are busy every evening and earning less per hour than they expected.

Marketing that promises bodies, not process

Results-led captions, before-and-after photos and casual testimonials can break advertising rules and attract people who need clinical care first.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine a Tuesday evening after your last session. Two messages arrive: one asking for a meal plan for a parent's new diagnosis, one asking about a supplement. As you open the message library, you already know which reply fits each, which professional on your Referral Register to name, and what to log. Two minutes, two kind answers, nothing outside your scope.

Now picture the first week of the month. You open the Dashboard and read your numbers in the order the KPI card suggests: safety first, then clients, then money, then growth. One client is flagged at risk, one referral needs consent recorded, one programme sits below your hourly floor. You know exactly what to do with each, because the workbook told you.

When a new client says yes, the paperwork is already built: the agreement topics decided with your lawyer, your scope statement written in four boxes, and the intake template holding your certifying body's own screening questions. Nothing starts until all three are back, and the Clients sheet will not let you forget.

Whether you begin tonight with the scope statement or tomorrow with the pricing calculator, the Start-here map gives you the first hour, the first week and the first ninety days, one file at a time.

Scope
Business and admin only: no meal plans, targets, supplement guidance or health claims
  1. Scope of Practice: What You Do, What You Refer, and Why

Write a scope statement in four boxes, copy your referral triggers from your certifying body and insurer, and say it in plain words.

  2. Referral Routes and Your Professional Network

Build a referral register of dietitians, doctors and other professionals, agree routes, and run every referral as a consented, logged admin process.

  3. Niche and Offer Without Medical Claims

Describe who you help and their situation without health, weight or body claims, and name who each offer is not for.

  4. Packaging and Pricing Programmes

Find your hourly floor, count every check-in and admin minute, and price programmes that clear it in a week you can deliver.

  5. The Discovery Call

Run a 20-minute call that explains scope, decides fit honestly and treats 'refer first' as a good outcome.

  6. Intake, Consent and the Agreement

Agreement, scope statement and intake with your certifying body's screening before session 1, with optional consents kept separate.

  7. The Coaching Rhythm: Sessions, Check-ins and Messaging Boundaries

Design cadence, check-in day, reply window and boundaries as operations, with behaviour-change ideas credited.

  8. Records, Notes, Privacy and Practice Software

Keep less and keep it well: one secure place, IDs elsewhere, a retention rule, and tools chosen by category.

  9. Claims-Safe Marketing, Gyms and Employers

Pass every post through five gates, use testimonials only with written consent, and keep gym and employer work general and confidential.

  10. Completion, Retention, the Numbers and AI

Make completion a client-led session, open renewals early, read fourteen numbers monthly and use AI for admin only.

A taste of Chapter 6

Open Intake-and-Consent-Form-Template. Page 1 collects contact details and the client's goals in their own words. Page 2 has a blank screening box headed with your certifying body's and insurer's names. Paste their questions there, in their wording. This kit deliberately does not supply health screening questions, because what you must ask, and what an answer means for coaching, is set by them, not by a template. Some fitness-industry certifications point coaches to a recognised pre-activity questionnaire such as the PAR-Q+; use any such tool only in the way your certifying body directs. Page 3 separates consent into two groups. The first four statements are needed to start: scope understood, referral possible, data kept under your privacy notice, changes reported. The last three are optional and separate: contacting a named health professional, being asked later for a quotable comment, and the use of any photos. Never bundle optional consents into the required ones.

Questions buyers ask

The Nutrition Coach Practice Kit: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

Can a nutrition coach write meal plans?

Usually not: under many coaching credentials and in many countries, personalised meal plans and diet prescriptions are work for registered dietitians and other regulated professionals. What a coach can do is set by the certifying body, insurer and local law. This kit helps you write that scope down and answer meal-plan requests with a kind, consistent referral.

What is the difference between a nutrition coach, a nutritionist and a dietitian?

A registered dietitian is a regulated health professional; in countries such as the UK and Canada the title is protected by law. 'Nutritionist' is protected in some places and not others. A nutrition coach usually works on habits and routines. The dated country sheet in the kit summarises what was verified in October 2026.

Does the kit include screening or health questionnaires?

No, deliberately. The intake template has a blank screening box for the questions your certifying body and insurer require, in their wording. What you must ask, and what an answer means for coaching, is set by them, not by a template.

How should I price my nutrition coaching packages?

Start from your own numbers: the revenue you need divided by the paid hours you can deliver gives an hourly floor. Then count every session, check-in and admin minute in each programme and check its effective hourly rate against the floor. The pricing calculator does this in any currency; prices are always your decision.

Can I use this with my staff or team?

Yes, within your own business under the personal licence: you can use the templates with coaches, trainers or assistants who work for your practice. Company, multi-site and franchise licences are available from solutions@bodhih.com.

Does it work in my country?

The method and the tools work anywhere, in any currency. The dated country sheet covers titles, claims rules and health-data privacy for the UK, US, Canada, Australia, India, the EU, the Philippines and South Africa, with pointers elsewhere. Laws change and differ by state and province, so check them locally with your adviser.

Is this nutrition, medical or legal advice?

No. It is educational business and admin content. It contains no meal plans, targets, supplement guidance or health claims, and its agreements are discussion sheets for a lawyer. Check your certifying body, insurer, accountant, lawyer and local rules before you act.

How can I measure my starting point?

AssessAll, Bodhih's assessment platform, has assessments that fit this kit: Client Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest Assessment for Professional Services, Reading Statistics in News, Advertising and Social Media Assessment for Everyday Readers, and Freelance & Client Work Judgment. They are sold separately at assessall.com.

How do I turn what I learn into a development plan?

Use the monthly practice review to pick one change a month, and Jobulary's individual development plan guide (jobulary.com/individual-development-plan) to turn the skills you want to build, such as referral conversations or pricing, into a measured plan.

Can I use AI in my nutrition coaching practice?

Yes, for admin and marketing drafts, with rules. The prompt pack has 32 prompts and six rules: AI never writes meal plans or food advice for clients, no identifiable client or health information goes into general AI tools, and you check every output for scope and claims.

How much does The Nutrition Coach Practice Kit cost?

₹999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
