The Event Planner Business Kit · Bodhih Pro Kits · 270 by Bodhih Training, trainers to 2,000+ companies since 2008.
How should an independent event planner price their services?
Start from your own hours, not competitors' prices. Work out a floor price per package from your hours, the pay you want per hour, your overheads, team and direct costs, then choose a flat, percentage, hourly or hybrid fee you can explain in one sentence. The Event Planner Business Kit from Bodhih Training builds this in a workbook and calculator.

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.
Fully booked and still not sure what you earn
The diary is full but the bank balance never matches it. Without logged hours, a busy year can pay less per hour than a part-time job, and you cannot see it until it is too late to change.
Prices copied from other planners
Competitors' websites do not know your hours or overheads. A percentage fee on a small but complicated wedding can pay you less than the work costs.
Enquiries that go quiet
A price list sent two days later invites comparison on price alone. Without a log, you never learn which sources bring the clients who book.
Terms that do not cover postponement
When a client moves the date or cancels, an old template leaves you guessing about deposits, supplier terms and what is fair.
Suppliers you have not really checked
Recommending a supplier lends them your name. Missing insurance, undisclosed commissions and unread terms become your problem on the day.
Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.
Imagine the first working day of next month. You open one workbook, and in twenty minutes you can see every enquiry and where it came from, every deposit and balance with its due date, next year's busy months and what each package really pays you per hour.
As you open the Packages sheet and type your honest hours, the floor price appears beside each fee. Whether you start with the calculator tonight or the enquiry log tomorrow, the next quote you send will be one you can explain in a sentence and defend without apology.
When the next enquiry lands on a Sunday night, the reply is already written in your voice, with two call times. When a client asks to postpone, your terms already say what happens. When a supplier offers you a commission, the register reminds you to tell the client in writing.
And when you sit down with your team at the end of the year, you will be looking at your own numbers, not guesses: what worked, what to stop and what to charge next year.

A taste of Chapter 2
In March 2026 Farah does something she has avoided for four years. For two weeks she logs every minute she spends on one wedding: the calls, the venue visits, the supplier emails at 11pm, the mood board revisions, the rehearsal and the 14-hour wedding day. Then she adds up what she logged for the whole booking. Full planning at 3,900 has taken 124 of her own hours. After paying Josh and the assistants and covering her travel and materials, the fee leaves 2,902. That is 23.40 an hour, before the overheads that keep the business running. Most planners price by looking at what others charge and landing somewhere in the middle. It feels safe and it is the most expensive habit in this business, because nobody else knows your hours, your costs or how much you need to earn.

The Event Planner Business Kit: FAQs
Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my linkHow much should an event planner charge?
There is no single right number. Work out your floor price per package from your own hours, the pay you want per hour, your overheads, team and direct costs, then check what your market will pay. The workbook and calculator do the arithmetic.
Is a flat fee or a percentage of budget better for wedding planners?
It depends on your services and market. A flat fee is easy to compare and approve; a percentage follows the budget rather than the work and needs a minimum. Many planners use a hybrid: a base fee plus a share of budget above a set level. The Fee Model Decision Card walks you through it.
Can I use this with my staff?
Yes, within your own business under the personal licence: your coordinator, assistants and freelancers can use the workbook, forms and templates for your clients. Company and multi-site licences are available from solutions@bodhih.com.
Does it work in my country?
The method is universal and the workbook works in any currency. The dated country notes cover the UK, EU, US, India, UAE, Singapore and Australia in general terms. Contract, consumer, tax, travel and safety rules need checking locally with your lawyer, accountant, venue and local authority.
Are the contract templates legally valid?
No. The Client Contract Discussion Sheet sets out, in plain words, the decisions your terms need to cover. A qualified lawyer in your country should turn it into a contract. The kit is educational and is not legal, tax or safety advice.
I am just starting. Is this too advanced?
It works for a first year too. Start with Settings, three packages and the enquiry log, and use the sample business's rows to see what good looks like. Add the rest as clients arrive.
How do I measure my starting point?
AssessAll, also from Bodhih, offers the Freelance and Client Work Judgment, Negotiation and Value Creation, and Pricing and Discount Discipline assessments. They are separate products that show where to focus first.
How do I turn this into a development plan?
Use the results of your first monthly close and any assessment to build your own development plan on Jobulary, then put the actions into the annual calendar from the kit.
Does the kit promise more bookings or income?
No. It gives you the tools and method to price, sell, contract and run the business with clear numbers. Results depend on your market, your work and many things no kit controls.
Can I use AI with these templates?
Yes. The AI Prompt Pack has 30 tool-agnostic prompts with what to paste in and what to check. AI drafts; you decide prices, clients, cultural questions and every message sent in your name.
How much does The Event Planner Business Kit cost?
₹999 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $29 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.
How do I get the files after paying?
Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.
What software do I need?
Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.
Can I get a refund?
Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.
Can my company buy this for a team?
Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
