Quick answer

How do I stay organised as a nursing student on placement?

Map every block and deadline, prepare in the fortnight before each placement, agree objectives in week one, log hours and evidence the same day, turn feedback into one action, check reflections for anonymity, plan assignments to your own target date and study with spaced retrieval. The Nursing Student Placement and Study Kit from Bodhih Training gives you the tools for each step.

Sound familiar?

You already feel the problem. Here is what it is costing you.

Hours you worked but cannot prove

Unsigned timesheets pile up, supervisors go on leave and the final week becomes a chase. A same-day log with a flag for anything unsigned keeps your official record in step.

Proficiency items left to the last week

Assessment documents are long and the opportunities on each placement are limited. Tracking each item by code, status and target date shows what to raise while there is still time.

Feedback that stays in your head

Busy supervisors give quick comments at the end of a shift. Without a record and one action, the same comment comes back at the mid-point interview.

Reflections that describe but never analyse

Markers ask 'but why?' and a stray detail can identify a patient. A structured template with an anonymity check fixes both.

Study that feels busy but does not stick

Re-reading and highlighting feel productive. Spaced retrieval and mixed practice are what research supports, and they fit around shifts.

Now imagine this

Picture the next few weeks with the kit open beside you.

Imagine Sunday evening, twenty minutes before you close the laptop. You open the Dashboard and see your running hours against the requirement in your handbook, the two shifts still to get signed and the three proficiency items due this week. You know exactly what to ask your supervisor on Monday.

Picture the fortnight before your next placement. As you work through the pre-placement checklist, the travel route is tested, the introduction message is sent and your learning objectives are drafted. On the first morning you walk in fifteen minutes early with your thirty-second introduction ready and the four questions that save the most trouble later.

Think of the moment someone asks you to do something you have not been taught. You already have the words, you say them calmly and you ask to watch. Later that week, when you write your reflection, the anonymity check catches the one detail that could have identified someone.

And when the exam date arrives in your calendar, you build the schedule backwards from it in ten minutes. Whether you start with the hours log tonight or the study planner tomorrow, each piece fits the next.

A taste of Chapter 8

Familiarity is not the same as memory. Re-reading makes material feel known because you recognise it; recalling it without the page is a different and harder task, and it is the one exams and practice ask of you. In 2013 John Dunlosky and colleagues reviewed ten common study techniques for the journal Psychological Science in the Public Interest. Two received their highest utility rating: practice testing and distributed practice. Highlighting, re-reading and summarising were among those rated low. Earlier work by Henry Roediger and Jeffrey Karpicke (2006) showed that testing yourself on material strengthens later recall more than studying it again, and studies by Doug Rohrer and colleagues on mixed practice found benefits from interleaving different kinds of problems rather than practising one type in a block.

Questions buyers ask

The Nursing Student Placement and Study Kit: FAQs

Read the free guideAlready bought? Resend my link

Does this kit teach clinical skills or exam answers?

No. It is educational, not medical or clinical advice. It teaches organisation, communication and study skills. Clinical learning, assessment wording and sign-off follow your university, your placement provider, your practice supervisor and assessor and your regulator.

Does it work in my country?

The method works anywhere: every programme mixes theory and practice, records hours and proficiencies and assesses written work. The dated country sheet covers the UK, US, Canada, Australia, India, the Philippines, the Gulf, Singapore and parts of Africa, correct at October 2026. Requirements change, so you type the figures from your own handbook and check the official regulator.

Can I use this with my students or team?

Yes, within your own organisation under the personal licence: a practice educator, clinic or care agency can use the tools with the students it supports. For company, multi-site or university-wide licences, email solutions@bodhih.com.

How do I track my placement hours as a nursing student?

Log every shift the same day with planned and counted hours, tick it only when it is signed in your official record, and let a running total compare it with the requirement in your handbook. The Hours Log flags unsigned shifts after three days and shows hours to make up.

Will the workbook hold my practice assessment document?

It holds codes, short labels, status, evidence notes and dates. The full wording and the signatures stay in your official document, which belongs to your university and assessor.

What is the best way to study for nursing exams?

Research reviewed by John Dunlosky and colleagues in 2013 rated practice testing and spaced practice as the most useful techniques. The kit's Study Planner schedules reviews by your confidence, and the Exam Countdown builder shares your hours by the official topic weights.

Can I use AI with this kit?

Only within your university's academic integrity and AI policy. The 29 prompts help with planning, quizzing yourself and checking structure, never with clinical decisions or assessed text, and never with anything from placement.

How do I measure my starting point?

AssessAll's Study Skills & Learning Strategies, Taking It Well: Receiving Feedback and Study Conditions and Exam Preparation Environment assessments give you a structured starting point. They are separate products from assessall.com.

How do I turn a goal into a plan I will actually follow?

Use the WOOP method: wish, outcome, obstacle, plan. Jobulary's guide to WOOP for professional goals shows how, and you can turn the plan into rows in your Assignment or Study Planner.

Which apps do I need?

Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice for the workbooks; Word or Google Docs for the templates; any PDF reader that fills forms; and any calendar app. The task board imports into Trello, Asana, Notion, Planner or Jira.

How much does The Nursing Student Placement and Study Kit cost?

₹799 including 18% GST for buyers in India, or $24 for buyers outside India. One-time payment, no subscription, with an automatic invoice.

How do I get the files after paying?

Instantly. Your download page opens the moment payment succeeds, and a permanent download link is emailed to you. Download each file separately or everything in one ZIP.

What software do I need?

Any of the usual tools: Excel or Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Word or Google Docs for templates, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, Xodo or GoodNotes for the fillable PDFs, and Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar for the calendar plan.

Can I get a refund?

Because it is a digital download, kits are not refundable once downloaded. We always refund a duplicate charge or a failed delivery, and if a file is corrupted and we cannot fix it within 3 working days. Full terms: bodhih.org/refunds.

Can my company buy this for a team?

Yes. Team and company licences, and workshops on this topic run by Bodhih Training, are available. Write to solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.
